Artist Spotlight: Ambush Apothecary
Oh my goodness, what would we do without Cat & Brad, the owners and creators behind Ambush Apothecary?! Our studio space wouldn’t smell nearly as special without their incredibly magical scents.
We’d love to shine the spotlight on Cat & Brad today because their small batch candles all made right out of Traverse City are worth it.
Cat & Brad own both West Bay Handmade, my all time favorite shop in Traverse City with local & handmade goods, and Ambush Apothecary.
Here’s a little more information right from Cat & Brad themselves - “Ambush Apothecary was founded in 2018 during a spontaneous road trip to the Grand Canyon. Our home-fragrance brand came to life after a spell of creative uncertainty. With previous experience in apothecary and design, we were able to cultivate a unique style that complements just about any interior design and offers fragrances that vibe well with any mood.
We’re based out of Traverse City, MI after moving from the Chicago-area in 2018. Together, we own an artisan market on our downtown strip called “West Bay Handmade” which features the work of over 100 local artists including ourselves! As of 2021 Ambush Apothecary now has its own store within West Bay Handmade. By filling our own store with product we’ve been able to see and hear exactly what our customers have to say which has helped us to create the best products possible.”
Who couldn’t love Cat & Brad?! They’re some of the best business owners, collaborators, and friends of KMD.
Back during the long & cold winter months, we knew we had to come up with something really special for our Winter Launch. That’s when I decided to reach out to Cat for an exclusive collaboration! She even let me come to her studio to help create the custom scents with her. I mean, talk about a true dream *pinch me* moment.
We came up with two scents for that winter launch & you all liked them so much that we knew our collaboration with Cat & Brad at Ambush couldn’t stop there.
The new candles from our spring launch are much bigger at 11oz, with a much longer lifespan, and even more beautiful vessels that deserve to be used as a cup or a cutie planter once the 100% soy wax candle burns all the way out.
Though we’ve done our best, words are hard to describe how much KMD’s collaboration with Ambush Apothecary means to us. Everything from Cat & Brad’s communication, hard work, and sweet presence means more than words can express which is why we knew they had to be our first Artist Spotlight.
