"Hey, didn't you used to be a wedding invitation designer??"

Hello! Welcome to my first ever blog post of Kristin MacKenzie Design. I’m so glad you’re here!

I’m Kristin, and I am the lady behind Kristin MacKenzie Design. For the past five years I have been running a successful wedding stationery design business over at Sable & Gray, but it is time for a change and I am so excited to start on this new adventure.

The question that I have been asked most frequently since announcing the start of this new business is, “Why would you leave something that is successful, especially if it’s something you’re good at?” The short answer? “Because I want more.” More freedom, more creativity, more opportunities to do the type of artwork that I love.

It was very hard to admit this to myself, because it felt like moving on from this business that I had poured every ounce of myself into for half a decade meant that I was somehow failing. And I did NOT want to be a failure, or a quitter. But after doing a lot of soul searching (and getting advice from some of my nearest & dearest friends) I decided that I’m not failing my business by moving on, I’m just growing out of it.

Don’t get me wrong, I am very, very proud of the business that I built over at Sable & Gray and have learned SO DANG MUCH since I started it in 2014. But doing custom work 24/7 is very draining for a creative soul. I’m going to miss having that one-on-one connection with my clients, and I’ll miss being a part of those stunning events (Luckily I have a bit more time to soak it all in as I continue to run Sable & Gray through December 2020). But I’m looking forward to creating designs that I am passionate about that can be shared with more of you lovely people!

I am so incredibly excited to start this new chapter and share my love of art and all things colorful with you all!
